At Shadow Combatives & Self-Defense, we offer a dynamic approach to personal protection. Drawing from Traditional Japanese Jujutsu and Shinobi no Jutsu, our hybrid-system blends striking, grappling, and weapon defense into one cohesive, pressure-tested method. Whether you're new to martial arts or returning after years away, our training adapts to your needs—with a strong focus on discipline, resilience, and practical application.

ABOUT OUR DOJO
Our dojo offers two different programs:
Kage Bujutsu (Shadow Martial Arts):
A modern combatives & self-defense program. While Jūjutsu serves as the cornerstone of our combat training, our program is a hybrid system between Shinobi no Jutsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo, Boxing, Goshin-Jutsu, and weapons training (i.e. knives, staffs swords, spears, metal chains, throwing blades, archery, hidden weapons, and more). In order to ensure the effectiveness of our techniques, all methodologies undergo rigorous pressure-testing through kata, drills, and sparring. Our students acquire proficiency in essential aspects such as precise striking techniques, effective grappling maneuvers, adept escapes, proficient pinning methods, skillful throws, and the mastery of various weapons.
Kobudō (Shisenkan Kobudō Federation):
Our dojo was given the name Seishin Dojo by Ron Kosen Shihan, meaning 'mind, spirit, soul, or heart'. Kobudō is a traditional Japanese system of combat based out of Tokyo, Japan. This system places a large emphasis on precision, technique, kata, principles, and history in order to both preserve and evolve old battlefield systems of combat known as 'bujutsu'. Kobudō has both Samurai and Shinobi no Mono roots dating back to over a thousand years ago and is tied directly to key historical figures such as Momochi Sandayu, Hattori Hanzo, and Takeda Shingen.
Under the guidance of Head Instructor Omar Gilani and Instructor Rocky Melton, SCSD offers real-world self-defense applications and combatives based on proven techniques.
In order to ensure the effectiveness of our techniques, all methodologies undergo rigorous pressure-testing through kata, drills, and sparring.
At SCSD, we foster a supportive environment where instructors and teammates work in unison, emphasizing the value of unity and reminding one another that no individual is ever alone in their journey.
